"The Hidden Artist in You - Methods of Relaxation through the Fine Arts"
Original Proposal intended for Government/Private Office Management and Personnel:
The purpose of this letter is to present you and the staff under your supervision with a proposal for a project called "The Hidden Artist in You - Methods of Relaxation through the Fine Arts". In subsequent lines, I will explain in detail the concept and purpose of this venture.
My name is David Acevedo. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Puerto Rico. I am currently a Federal Government employee in Ft. Myers, Florida. I have been an artist for over 12 years. Art is my passion and has been in my life in good times and bad. I want to share this passion with as many people as I can. That is the sole purpose of my proposal.
This project consists of inviting staff members and guests to a creative gathering where, through the learning and practicing of basic art concepts, the participants will release stress and simultaneously focus in their own hidden talents. The benefits of this colorful jamboree are many. Aside from the stress releasing, people discover that they like what they are doing and become art enthusiasts and even amateurs artists themselves.
Participants who are already art oriented will enjoy a wonderful time in a space where they have a chance to share knowledge and/or talent amongst themselves and others. The artwork created during the workshop can be donated to the workplace and hung on the walls in permanent exhibition for everyone to enjoy.
Normally the proposed meetings take place at a private home, the office's break/lunch room (on a non-work day, with permission) or a public park. The date is pre-determined upon your acceptance of the proposal. Saturday is the preferred meeting day since the majority of attendees work Monday through Friday. Meeting hours are normally 9:00 am through 2:00 pm, but other times might be a possibility if necessary.
The Cost and Feasibility
As the sole facilitator, organizer and promoter of this project; I lack of current funding for the launching of this endeavor. I can only donate my time, knowledge, teaching skills and talent. This is a non-profit event. The mere appreciation of the arts is more than gratifying to me.
I propose a fee of $30.00 exclusively for art materials for each participant. These materials will belong to each one and they will take everything with them after the session. Nevertheless, any of the participants who wish to bring their own materials is free to do so and no fees will be required on their part.
Below is a list of the items that each participant should have:
* 16" x 20" Canvas (Quantity depends on retail price)
* Artists' brushes (3 to 4 different sizes)
* Palette or mixing plate
* Artists' spatulas
* Pencils
* Basic Acrylic Paint Set (5 colors: Red, Blue, Yellow,
Black and White)
Other items that can be brought from home to enhance this experience are:
· Pictures or photographs for inspiration
· Books with images of any kind
· Rulers (12", 36"...)
· Masking or painter's Tape
· Sponges for texture
· Water bowl
· Rag, piece of cloth or paper towel rolls
· Additional paint colors, ink, pastels, etc.
· Pre-Fabricated frames that fit the canvas for an immediate final touch. (These can be found at garage sales, in an attic or garage or hanging at home framing some ugly print that can be discarded to put the frame to better use!)
If this proposal appeals to you and your staff, contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss it and get the answers any questions you may have. Please post the enclosed flyer in your bulletin board and have participants sign in the sheet of attendance. The fee will be collected a week before the meeting in order to have some time to purchase the materials.
Thank you for your time and I hope to have the opportunity to meet with you and you staff for a wonderful day of creativity and fun!
